Dawn Caldwell, Aurora Cooperative

February 1, 2019

“My advice to every young person is to be coachable. It’s a hard thing to do. Those of you who are coachable—you’re the ones who will make it down the road.” –Dawn Caldwell

Dawn Caldwell grew up on a farm and has worked in agriculture for her entire career. She joined Aurora Cooperative, where she’s held three different positions, in 2000. Caldwell discusses learning experiences, life challenges, difficult decisions, opportunities for growth, balancing career and family and dispenses wisdom and advice for those starting their careers.

Dawn Caldwell

A 1994 graduate of the University of Nebraska (B.S. animal science), Caldwell’s first post-college job was at the University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension Service, working with 4-H youth. She then joined a private feed company, heading up nutrition and sales. In 2000, Caldwell joined Aurora Cooperative; first as a livestock specialist and currently as head of government affairs. She is involved with the Nebraska Cattlemen, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, CommonGround and other local and state organizations. Caldwell grew up on a diversified, non-irrigated farm in south central Nebraska and currently lives on a ranch with her husband. Her most cherished role is that of wife and mom. Caldwell is an avid advocate for agriculture and encourages others in the industry to do what they can to share what agriculture means to them.
