Paulsen client Landus Cooperative held its second Ventures: Connections and Conversations in Ag conference for women March 22-23 in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Account Specialist Brittany Lessman and Creative Director Clara Jacob attended the event.
“The programs and speakers were excellent and memorable,” says Lessman. “We appreciated having the opportunity to meet Landus Cooperative team members and member-owners.”
The Saturday lunch keynote address featured Hamilton County Community Services Director Patti Treibel-Leeds discussing the importance of prioritizing mental health during a tough farm economy.
Sessions featured topics such as Grain Marketing, Creative Hedging, Ag Loans, Crop Insurance Basics, Spring Agronomy Decisions and more presented by experts representing various organizations.
“The speakers did not shy away from addressing the complexities involved in farming,” Lessman says. “The expectation was that women are an integral part of farming operations.”
According to conference materials, more than 32,000 women farm in Iowa.
The USDA’s Census of Agriculture report released on April 11 shows that the number of women producers has increased 27 percent from 2012 to 2017. Women now make of 36 percent of farmers.
Landus Cooperative, which has 60 locations in Iowa and Minnesota, encourages women to become part of the organization as member-owners, employees or board members.
